The Future of Write Wise - Write Wise Blog

The Future of Write Wise

Tomorrow's challenge has only one entry, contributed by Falcon. I have the beginnings of a story formed, but (not for the first time) other projects have held me back this month. I fully intend to enter in Christmas, but didn't want to rush an entry and regret it.

I'm looking forward to reading Falcon's entry tomorrow and the Christmas 2014 Write Wise will be going ahead, but I wanted to get your feelings on our challenges.

Do you think they have passed their time / have become a hassle? Do you think we should have less? Or do you think it's okay that we have varying numbers of emtries and that we should keep the system as is.

Write Wise is your site as much as it is mine, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Happy reading tomorrow!

Interest has definitely been down compared to what the Write Wise used to be. I still really like reading the entries and want to get back into entering the challenges. The Write Wise should not be ended in my opinion. A break is an interesting idea, but a length of time could be hard to decide and a large lull in writing could be good or bad. The current four a year sounds quite sparse as it is but as I have missed the last two, I can't really say much on that. Two a year is an interesting idea. Always worth noting is that the open challenge can be used if anyone ever has a story they want to post without needing to wait on a challenge.

If we were able to adopt the Open Challenge more, the Write Wise could flourish without deadlines or needing to wait on writing going into season. I'm not sure what the best course of action is really, but I might try and use the Open Challenge myself.

Thanks for the feedback chaps. Appreciate the honesty. I'll be reevaluating, including this Christmases. I'll put an announcement up in a few days.

I have noticed that level of enthusiasm for Write Wise hasn't been as high in the past few months as it previously had been. It has been suffering from a low amount of entries, which is a similar situation to the blog updates themselves as I have only been producing about two a month for a while now.

On Write Wise, I don't think that we can really keep up the peace any more due to new commitments, a lack of time and running out of interesting stories to tell. For the next few months I certainly won't be able to write long entries, such as those found in the Guardian series, due to university work taking priority.I have no real plans for the Christmas entry but it will be a short one if I can think of an idea. I argue that after the Christmas entry, it is probably a good idea to take a long break until we have some interest in bringing it back and risk the possibility that there won't be another Write Wise challenge.

It seems that the number of entries has been on the decline for some time now. Other commitments seem to be becoming more and more pressing with people in work and uni. I personally have no to plans return to entering write wise, simply because I find I don't enjoy writing as much as I used to.

That being said I know some of you do still enjoy it. My suggestion would be to lower the number of challenges again which would give you more time to prepare and write. I personally think 2 challenges a year might be the best solution. However I leave it up to the rest of you who actually still enter.
