June 2014

The next Write Wise challenge will be held on June 2014, with the closing date being 30th June.

Looking forward to reading everybody's entries, and I'm happy to say that I will be entering this time round!

The Future

Thanks to all who entered the March 2014 challenge, I enjoyed reading both entries. I regret not having been able to enter myself but I will be returning for the next challenge in June (I already have my story first drafted).

I had originally intended to release a new version of the Write Wise site for March, but due to the same reasons that I was unable to enter, I couldn't.

This changeover will, however, take place this year. The new system will aim to be:

• Easier to use
• Be better organised
• Have a modern design that makes better use of the user's screen resolution

March 2014

The first Write Wise challenge of the year will be closing on the 31st March 2014. A point of interest is the fact that this challenge will mark three years of writing challenges, which is pretty amazing!

Three years ago, the first challenge was announced on my blog. I never knew it would grow in the way that it has and would like to again thank everybody who has entered stories to our challenges.

Unfortunately, this post isn't all fond reminiscence...

It's looking increasingly unlikely that I will be unable to enter this coming challenge due to other commitments. I don't like not entering a challenge (I have so far only failed to enter once), but the other commitments are important, and do require my full attention.

I also definitely won't be releasing the planned new version of the site for March, for the same reasons. I do still intend to update the site at some point, as the code base could definitely use with being updated.

2014 with Write Wise

2013 was a pretty good year for Write Wise: we had some great challenges with some great stories submitted.

Write Wise's challenges will be following the same pattern in 2014, 4 challenges:

• March Writing Challenge
• June Writing Challenge
• September Writing Challenge
• Christmas Writing Challenge

The format will remain the same but there will be one major change... the site itself. The current site's code-base is quite old, and is dependent on out-dated technology.

A new version, based on Potato Seed will be developed, with the intention of having the site up and running for the first challenge in March.

The data of the old site will be transferable, so nothing will be lost. The main aim is to bring the code into line with my current standards and improve the usability of the site.
