Prometheus

Prometheus is a prequel to the science fiction classic Alien or a quasi-prequel according to some including the director Ridely Scott himself, and has attempted to uncover some questions raised from the original films such as the origins of the Xenomorphs. Most of the characters are forgettable bar the android David played excellently by Michael Fassbender and the main heroin, Elizabeth Shaw, portrayed by Noomi Rapace who strives for answers about the existence of humans.

In 2089, Shaw and an archaeological team are excavating a site in Scotland. Elizabeth explores a cave and discovers a cave painting similar to symbols other ancient unconnected societies that were separated by sea and vast areas of land. It is therefore revealed that the symbols are a star map that leads the squad to a distant moon in which they hope to find answers about the beginning of humanity. The Weyland Corporation, a shadowy organisation from the series, funds this mission and eventually manages to get the individuals to their destination via the spaceship Prometheus.

While it may suffer from some flat characters with no real drive or motivation and may lack elements of horror that I believed it would entail, it is a great movie to watch as it will keep you entertained the whole way through. I particularly enjoyed David and Shaw’s motivations, seeking out the truth to their existence. In my opinion this is strong enough to spawn a sequel but I don’t believe that it would really add to the story, after all it is best to leave some things unanswered. Batman: Arkham City

Greetings, Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to Arkham Asylum which was released in 2009 and includes more villains, who were missing from the original, such as Two-Face or the Penguin from Bruce Wayne’s rouge list. It is an open world game like its predecessor with the addition of optional side missions including challenges from the Riddler, most of which are linked and activate with plot progression. The game focuses heavily on the strange and complicated relationship between the Dark Knight and the Crown Prince of Crime, the Joker. I believe that it has an even darker tone than the original.

In terms of plot, psychologist Hugo Strange convinces the newly elected Mayor of Gotham and former Warden of Arkham Asylum, Quincy Sharp to break off apart of Gotham City from the rest of it. This divided part acts as a high security prison, allowing the super villains to fight each other in a turf war between the Joker, the Penguin and Two-Face. In order to find out what is going on inside the city, Batman as Bruce Wayne gets himself arrested protesting about the prison. Once the Caped Crusader is in he learns that Hugo Strange has a secret operation planned called Protocol ten which will initiate in several hours.

The talented cast suit their roles perfectly, especially Mark Hamill as the Joker who brings a disturbingly dark comedic quality to the character. As well as the voice acting, the music also fits perfectly with the gritty story which helps make it a more entertaining game. I think this one is as good or if not better than Asylum, hopefully the next instalment, of which there have been a few subtle clues will keep up the trajectory of its success. Greetings, this is the final series of the adventures of Fletch and Roman or at least the last planned one anyway. You have already read the last Christmas special the previous year and I hope you have enjoyed reading their adventures as I have had writing them. After this series is finished I plan to transfer the Lutionn Collection as well as FRA to Write Wise, this will take a while as I need to check for spelling errors and other mistakes in the novels. Also after this current season, the two remaining Lutionn books will no longer be posted with each blog update, instead you will have to wait for each novel to be released in full. Team X Paranormal Division ch 19

Greetings, the last chapter of Team X Paranormal Division is up in Warehouse 17. This is the 6th novel of eight in the Lutionn Collection and continues to set the stage for the final confrontation in the last book as the villains start to reveal themselves as well as their motivations. It was the longest novel so far, joint with the Invisible Agents in the number of chapters. I hope you enjoyed reading it as I did like writing it. It is possible that Team X could have their own small storyline after the events of this book, further exploring paranormal cases. The nineteenth chapter of Team X Paranormal Division is up at Warehouse 17.

Avengers Assemble

Avengers Assemble

Greetings, Avengers assemble as it is called in the United Kingdom is a movie that has been suggested throughout several of the previous Marvel films including Iron Man. The story revolves around a few of the well known characters, most of whom had received their own films prior to this one but there are a couple who didn’t such as Hawkeye or the Black Widow.

Apparently the plot is linked to the Captain America story, which I have as of yet not seen. The defensive company S.H.E.I.L.D. under the direction of Nick Fury, attempt to create a team of individuals with unique powers or skills in order to protect earth against various forces of evil.

The need to form and unite the heroes into a group becomes more pressing when a power source known as the Tesseract opens up a portal in one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s bases allowing Loki to enter the planet and steal the resource. Loki is a super villain and adopted brother of the superhero Thor, stealing the Tesseract as part of a deal in exchange for an army.

It has a talented cast with likeable characters including Downey’s Iron Man or Hawkeye and has comedic elements throughout the film which suites the story quite well. The plot might not have been the greatest, neither did I know all the characters but that didn’t prevent me from enjoying the experience. Overall if you liked Marvel’s other films, chances are you will like this one as well. The eighteenth chapter of Team X Paranormal Division is up at Warehouse 17.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Live and Let Die

Greetings, Live and Let Die is the second novel in the James Bond series and follows on from Casino Royale. 007 is sent from London by M to America in order defeat his latest enemy known as Mr Big and overthrow his operations. Like Casino Royale I felt that it was simply ok in terms of experience, it certainly didn’t make me want to continually keep reading to see how it would turn out. It is probably because of the fact that the agent eats and drinks for half the book instead of pursuing his target.

The plot isn’t the most thrilling as it is yet again similar to the original in that the villain is trying to fund the Soviets operations, though this time it is through 17th century treasure of a notorious pirate called Bloody Morgan. Mr Big runs his scheme through convincing his followers that he is the zombie of Baron Samedi, a figure in voodoo related to death. Bond and CIA agent as well as recurring character Leiter are tracked by Mr Big’s network of spies as they attempt to achieve their objectives

Overall I preferred the original novel but I am staring to see elements of the sinister villains that 007 encounters in the films and is often regarded for having. For instance Mr Big uses sharks to defend his island and has used them against the secret agent. While it wasn’t a great book, it wasn’t terrible either and so I plan to continue the series in the hope that it will improve as time goes on and the more recognisable rogues start to appear.
